I have recently been reminded of the simple joys in life. It’s singing your heart out to Justin Beiber’s “Baby” and dancing to Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA.” It is getting to sleep during a rest hour and being so grateful for it. It is getting smacked by a grasshopper in the face to wake up before morning watch. It is strong coffee that is good for the soul. It is knowing that Brian is on the way to see me. It is sitting on a porch in the rocking chair soaking up the good life. It is being able to walk around and have good conversations and laughs. It is the love of family. It is the wonder of children. It is friends who constantly accept and love you the way that you are. It is finding a fake cockroach in my bed. It is nature.
This is a picture that my wonderful friend photographer Katherine captured of my cousin and I. This is what happiness is. Wonderful. Wonderful life.
