DeSoto 2011

So, I have been organizing and rummaging through my things trying to get organized.  And you know what I found?  My 2011 staff journal from Camp DeSoto!  I just finished reading through it.  With a journal comes great appreciation of the past, those events, and some laughs.  My camp friends know that a journal started this here blog :)  So, I just wanted to share some excerpts from it that make my soul sing!

Without solitude it is virtually impossible to live a spiritual life... We do not take the spiritual life seriously if we do not set aside some time to be with God and to listen to Him.  - Henri Nouwen

Dear Dishwash Detergent,

Thank you for making my pot even more slippery and for causing it to slip off the pocket rocket (stove made for camping) and put rice in front of the cabin.  Apparently, it was not good because no critters ate it.  Poor kids coming backpacking.

Heart,
Me

Grant us to hear Your voice assuring us that by your wounds we are healed,
That you have been made sin for us that we might be righteous in You.
We are guilty, but pardoned
Lost, but saved,
Wandering, but found
Sinned, but cleansed.
Keep us always clinging to the cross
Flood us every moment with descending grace.
Humble our hearts before You.

The ways I've seen that God is love in these first 48 hours...

delicious break

Well, my five weeks of a break are coming to screeching halts.  And, I might cry for the next month or so.  But, my break has been incredible!  I have been to Jackson Hole, Athens, and Miami.  And all of it has been fun.

New Year's Eve/The World Celebrating Kelly's Birthday!

Here is a recipe that Brian and I made because we were craving something sweet... If you make it, you will crave it multiple times a day, all week.  It's sinfully delicious.  So make with caution: you can get the recipe for them from this website...

We used the coconut.  And, we used crunchy peanut butter.

And they are to die for... just don't make them around someone with a peanut allergy within a 10 mile radius, and make sure you have some milk on hand!

I'll try and post more this year!
